a.k.a.
Born in 1986 in Sydney, Australia, Chantal grew up in a loving family home of 4 children and a mother born in France and a Father of European Dutch decent born in Australia. At an early age, growing up was difficult for Chantal and her family, she did not have all the luxuries and opportunities most kids she knew had of going to expensive school excursions, having the latest clothes and things but it never really concerned her. "As a kid I grew up with little but I felt like I had a lot because I had my family, my pets, and an imagination that felt to me more abundant than having an abundance of stuff. Of course we had toys and cloths but we took more care of them as we had to hold onto them longer than most previaged kids do these days." Growing up in a housing commission home in a rough neighborhood between the boarder of Eagle Vale and Claymore, NSW, crime activity was common, burglary, burnt out cars, needles in the park, cars skidding daily up and down my street, drug deals and prostition happening in front of my home, violence. 'I saw it all at a young age, you dont forget these things but we were safe from the outside world because my parents did their best and taught 'us' their children that it's not about the outside world, you grow your strength and awareness from the inside out. My parents were supportive, honest and hard working folks. My mother always reminded me that I could be what ever I wanted, I had to obstacles stopping. I never felt disadvantaged, quite the opposite. I was a child but I could see the silver lining and I am grateful for that, I appreciate everything I have today humbly and I know I don't need much to be happy..but I do need my art life.
L All my life I have been deeply immersed in the arts. As a child I would enjoy listening to classical music, going to art galleries and watching theater plays. As I got older that interest in the arts started to form into my home life. I taught myself how to be creative in various forms of mixed mediums, creating beautiful things like jewelry, costumes, ceramics, paintings, and drawings. I went through stages of drawing endless mermaids, fairies, superhero characters, mythological warriors and fantasy in great detail. My imagination was as escape into another world, I needed to be in touch with creativity which in turn enhanced my aspects of my life.
When I was 12 years of age, my first year in secondary school, the head visual arts teacher asked my mother if I could be moved up to the 10th grade art class, shy and still just a child I declined but at 15 I topped the school in ceramics and received an award for outstanding achievements from the principle. Soon after I was asked to collaborate on a large mural in the town’s center with other outstanding achievement students from other regional schools and this was later published in the local newspaper. My major toward the end of secondary school was visual arts but I dabbled in photography as well. Back than we used the darkroom to learn to develop photos from film. After secondary school in 2005 I left the comforts of my home town in Bundanoon and enrolled myself into college in Sydney to study graphic design and photography for the next 3 years.
During my time at college at age 19 I was randomly approached by an international photographer named 'Micheal Perini' along side him with his female assistant. I was than photographed for Bowral’s Tulip festival; one week later that photo appeared on a full page spread in The Sunday Telegraph. From that experience I gained confidence and have worked as a freelance model for local and other internationally acclaimed photographers. I have found modeling to be a great way for me to be creative in front of the camera through posing, makeup, styling, fine nude art photography and body painting. As a photographer I now use these skills to coach my clients for their photo sessions with me.
Underwater stunt modeling came later during my early 20's when I was living in California, USA I took up scuba diving and trained myself in free diving wearing a mono-fin. Being completely mesmerized by the beauty in the ocean and how free and fluid I felt underwater I was inspired and created a functional mermaid tail I now perform in for events both land and underwater. The mermaid tail took 6 months to create.
After enjoying the process of designing and making my mermaid tail I have now expanded my costumes in which I entertain in to fit the Hollywood icons of Broadway and other created fantasy characters. I have been known in the entertainment industry for leading the way as Australia's #1 most authentic classic beauty Snow White entertainer. All of my costumes are 'one of a kind' hand made and designed by me.
